Abstract narratives woven from 8 bit video signal primitive, yet yielding a multitude of textures, tones and expressions. Steady predictable pulse, interference, turbulent noise laced with melody harmony and layer upon percussive layer without resolution, peace, fulfillment. Edited within the context of musical time signature resulting in a work which is both visually compelling and musically lyrical.
Recent trends in video, as in music, show artists attempting to eliminate the use of actors and locations by sampling and appropriating from the existing cultural surplus of video imagery. I propose an evolutionary step in this symbolic communication is to eliminate all camera related images and to restricting myself to that which is absolute video, absolute signal.
